Ecolab Increases First-Quarter Profit

Ecolab, Inc. has declared a fiscal first-quarter profit of US$296 million, or $1.01 per share, up 20 percent from $247 million, or $0.84 per share, one year earlier.
The company reported first-quarter sales of $3.5 billion, an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period one year ago. Ecolab’s industrial segment improved sales by 8 percent, while revenues in the company’s energy division grew 14 percent.
