The U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has released an update of its Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) inventory, giving cleaning professionals access to the latest information about all the chemicals actively being manufactured, processed, and imported in the United States.

The new list whittles down the chemical inventory, as only 47 percent of the 86,228 chemicals on the original TSCA inventory created 40 years ago are still in use. The updated inventory will help the EPA evaluate commonly used chemicals and address the risks involved in handling them. It will also increase cleaning product transparency to cleaners and maintenance workers, along with the public.
