The global market for infection control products is expected to reach US$21.06 billion by 2022, up from $15.35 billion in 2017, according to new market research from MarketsandMarketsTM.

Products within the global infection control market include disinfectants, such as wipes and sprays, and sterilization products, such as steam, hydrogen peroxide, and radiation beams.

Factors driving the nearly $6 billion growth include the increasing incidence of health care-acquired infections and the rising number of surgical procedures due to the rapidly growing geriatric population, PR Newswire reports.

North America dominated the global infection control market in 2016. However, the emerging markets in China, India, Russia, and Latin American countries are contributing to the increased demand for disinfection and sterilization products.
