New Oregon Law Requires Cleaners to be Licensed

January 5, 2018

Effective January 1, Oregon has amended its labor laws to require employers that provide janitorial or cleaning services to other parties be licensed as a Property Services Contractor by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BLI).

Oregon’s new legislation, which impacts building service contractors and residential cleaning service providers, also requires training on workplace harassment and discrimination. In an effort to assist businesses with compliance, the Oregon BLI has detailed compliance assistance in the form of a handbook for property services contractors which includes a detailed description of the licensing process.

For more information on the new licensing requirements, visit the Oregon BLI website.
