Salmonella Outbreak Reported in Louisiana

Louisiana Department of Health officials have confirmed more than 150 cases of salmonella in Caldwell Parish, LA.

According to health officials, 158 people have been sickened by the bacteria, resulting in 40 hospitalizations and one fatality. The outbreak has been linked to chicken and sausage jambalaya that was sold at a softball fundraiser earlier this month. The state health department is conducting further testing to determine which ingredients were contaminated by the bacteria, WGNO-TV reports.
