The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has linked a salmonella outbreak that has infected more than 100 people to precut melons.

According to the CDC, 117 cases in 10 states stem from precut melon distributed by Caito Foods LLC.  The first reports of the illness began last month, and on April 12 Caito Foods issued a voluntary recall of the fruit that was distributed to retailers in 16 states. So far, 32 people have been hospitalized due to the outbreak. Caito Foods is working with the CDC to determine the source of the outbreak.
