The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating a coast-to-coast salmonella outbreak linked to tuna.

At least 30 people in seven states have been confirmed ill with salmonella. Many of the affected individuals reported falling ill after eating sushi made from tuna, Food Safety News reported. People affected by the outbreak live in Washington, Oregon, Texas, Florida, California, Hawaii, and New Jersey.

Additionally, Relish Foods, of Culver City, CA, has recalled Newport brand tuna loins and steaks after salmonella was found in the products. Federal officials are investigating whether the tuna recall is related to the salmonella outbreak, Unsafe Foods reported.
