Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. has traced the source of a recent norovirus outbreak at its Sterling, VA, restaurant to a sick employee.

Earlier this month, dozens of customers reported symptoms of the gastrointestinal illness, prompting Chipotle to temporarily close the restaurant for a thorough sanitization. Chipotle Chief Executive Steve Ells reported to analysts that the outbreak may have been caused by an employee working while sick.

Chipotle executives have ordered a zero-tolerance policy for any sick employees and the company is retraining its staff on proper food safety procedures, Reuters reports.
